Ensuring that our first responders have everything they need to keep our community safe should be the first priority of anyone running for public office. If re-elected, I'll do my best to keep the focus on the most important job for any government. For my kids, for yours, and for all of us.
My work in this area includes:
-
As the fire department liaison, I helped draft and pass our first ever public safety millage through council - the 2019 fire millage. Rather than just talk the talk, I've walked the walk in getting folks behind this vital initiative. Going forward, I'll be focused on responsible stewardship of those dollars and investment in the right areas to give them the tools and resources they need to better retain staff, respond to incidents, and enhance department service to the community.
-
Advocated successfully for the transition away from paid on call to full time fire department.
-
Helped secure the grant for a new fire truck in 2021.
-
Successfully advocated for vital police investments in both equipment and desperately needed improvements at the department.

I'm committed to doing everything I can to support responsible growth and investment in our city in the downtown and beyond. It's an area I first started working in as a member of the Downtown Development Authority prior to my election. I worked with business owners to help grow their foot traffic, as well as to attract interest from other businesses to invest right here. That work was the seed for the downtown dock and break wall project, a cause I am happy to continuing supporting until we are successful.

While on council, though I support downtown development, I was the only member to vote no to a partnership and development agreement for the Washington/Front property. The agreement was great, however I harbored doubts over the second phase of the deal. I was subsequently chosen by council to help renegotiate the agreement to present a change to council. I am confident we can salvage this project and secure this needed development for our town.

With over 16 years of banking experience, I know my way around a balance sheet. On council, I take an active role each year in examining our books and making decisions about where we need to invest in ourselves. I'm proud to say our city is in excellent shape financially. That's giving us the ability to invest in ourselves in ways we haven't before, in infrastructure, in placemaking, public safety, and parks.

Over the past four years I have supported every single road and utility project the city has budgeted for. Some of these projects are Homestead 1, Homestead 2, St. Clair Drive, and the soon to be started streets connecting to St Clair Drive. I voted to approve the balance of the Base Street bridge replacement in which a large portion was covered by grant funds.

I have worked hard to repair the damaged relationship between the City Of New Baltimore and Anchor Bay Schools. Not only has the relationship become stronger, but we have now entered into partnerships that have helped us expand our recreation department to offer more programs for both youth and seniors in and around our community.
